lol. That's the way it goes with exterminators... This is an expertise, not an exact science, so you can call a hundred exterminators and get a hundred different ways to do it. And you know what? They could all be right and they could all be wrong!
First of all, you can just FORGET the $3500 guy. He sounds like one of the biggies - or he used to WORK for one of the biggies.
Actually, the best guy, from your descriptions, would be the third guy, in spite of his excitement. I remember, years ago, when I saw my first case of drywood termites, which we don't have, (I'm in NJ). They were in a breakfront that came up from Florida and in an apartment I was servicing. I was excited too!
Anyway, your third guy, his mode of treatment sounds just fine. Make sure that Termidor is what he's going to be used in all his treatment, it's the most effective on sub termites. Get a guarantee.
As far as your concerns with any of the treatment, don't worry about it. It would take me two pages to explain WHY it won't bother you or yours, all I'll say is you have much more risk from that Mack truck coming down the street... Please - not to worry! Get 'er done!
The third guy sounds fine. Tell him of your concerns and I'm sure he'll be as careful as he needs to. And, unfortunately, I don't have a name for you in Portland, nor anyone close.
Let me know how it all works out!
