I just recently had a WDO on my house that was under contract. The inspector found one fascia board with PPB holes. I offered to rip the board down right then and there to investigate further (to see if they had spread beyond the board or to see if there was any evidence of activity). The inspector passed on the offer telling the homebuyers that the house would have to be tented and fumigated to the tune of $5000. This seems to be a bit excessive to me, seems to me it warranted a closer look. I should also mention that I painted the board about 2.5 months ago and I can't see any new holes (I know summer is a more popular time for them to emerge but I live in Florida so maybe that makes a difference???). So long story short, if I take the board down and tear into it will I be able to determine if it's active? I should mention the homebuyers cancelled their contract on the house because of this.
