First of all, I have my doubts about the PPB thing, and I know there are definitely many unscrupulous inspectors out there...

Indeed, remove the offending trim piece, replace it with wood painted on all 4 sides and make sure that company is off your list!

And if you were under contract, your exterminator should have provided the certification. He is in a better position to certify, as he has a history on your home and should know what's going on.

When you replace the fascia, invite your present exterminator out there, show him what you're doing and have him make sure there are no more affected wooden members.
