I sent you a question a few years ago regarding carpenter ants, your advice was spot on and saved me hundreds!
Today's question is about termites. I found a lot of larva and swarmers when I dug into the mulch in a bed around my well head. There are a lot of termites, but even more small ants, tearing them up!
I live in the woods, and I know termites aren't uncommon, but these are within 30 feet to my house. I didn't find any in the beds around my house, though. In fact I have a 12" x12" trench around most of the houses perimeter filled with 1 1/2 crushed stone for drainage.
I perform constant inspections to my foundation (as I had minor termite damage to my old home), and have found nothing.
I tried sprinkling the Bayer granules in my infested bed, but a week later, termites and ants both fine and healthy! Although my well is sleeved for 60', still not sure about putting chemicals around my well.
Any advise you can give would be appreciated.
